North Korea
December 5, 2007
Dear Erika,
Korea is located south of China. It has two parts , North Korea and South Korea. It is also east of the Sea of Japan. It is called the Korean Peninsula.
Almost everyone in Korea lives in apartments. The country is covered with mountains. They have many trees and shrubs on them. Because of the mountains Korea is called the Land of the Morning Calm.
A lot of people move to Korea because of the jobs. North and South Korea have few cars. They walk to get to work. All family members live together. Most live in cities. Farms in Korea are called collectives.
People in Korea like music and dancing. Traditional instruments are used during the dances. The instruments are hour-glass drum, gongs, bells, flutes and stone chimes.
North and South Korea wear the same cloths as a
Americans. Woman wear a long full skirt called a chima, as their traditional outfit. Koreans eat meat, fish and rice. Tea is a favorite drink.
Your friend,
Chris R.

North Korea
November 30, 2007
Dear Christopher,
I think Korea is a very pretty place to live in. Korea is a mountainous county in East Asia. It is located on the North Korean peninsula.
Korea has a mountain that you can only really see in the morning. It’s called the tree mountain. There is not much grass in Korea, because there are a lot of buildings in the way.
In all of Korea most people do not have cars. When people wear fancy clothing they wear loose fitting pants and loose fitting jackets that may be worn with bows.
Also they wear similar clothing to Americans. There clothing is just a little different because they are in a different country.
Most people move to Korea because there are good jobs. Most people are farmers and they grow Chinese cabbage, soybeans, sweat potatoes and other good foods.
Dancing in Korea is very slow. Drums, bells, flute, and stone chimes are traditional Korean instruments. Christopher, I hope you enjoyed studying about Korea with me.
Your Friend,
Erika
